Idiotic Joey Barton slams England stars
Neutral football fans in England certainly don’t find Joey Barton to be the most popular figure in the Premier League, with the Newcastle playing enjoying a career that has seen him hit the headlines more often for controversial actions than stunning play where it counts on the pitch. Now, he has somehow managed to make himself even more of a hate figure by revealing his shock at being overlooked by England boss Fabio Capello for involvement in the current squad.
With Barton enjoying a fairly good season with Newcastle as the Magpies seek to stay up after promotion from the Championship last summer, there are some who believe he could be a valuable addition to the England set-up if he can put his personal issues behind him and focus solely on his game. However, it seems as if the rage and lack of common sense that so often cause him problems have failed to disappear, with the player launching a stinging attack at individual England players while explaining his feelings at being snubbed.
Barton has just the one England cap to his name but still apparently believes he is the best midfielder involved in the English game at the moment, the player revealing in an interview that he honestly thinks he is the “best” English midfielder.
With Barton singling out current England midfielder Gareth Barry for personal criticism in the magazine interview, the Newcastle man referring back to England’s World Cup defeat against a superior Germany side before stating: “If you watch the fourth goal, when Ozil was up against Barry, it was like the hare and the tortoise”, he surely won’t have made any friends with this latest criticism and certainly won’t have impressed boss Fabio Capello.
It seems strange to think for one so immature that Barton is now 28 years old, but with the player not exactly being a youngster, it would seem that his bizarre attempt to work his way into Capello’s plans is simply too little too late, particularly in light of his impressive CV of previous bad behaviour.
